Zaffre pre-empts Raphael Montes’ thriller in two-book deal

Commissioning editor Kasim Mohammed acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to Raphael Montes “dark and provocative” thriller, Secret Dinner, in a two-book deal.
Secret Dinner was published as Jantar Secreto in Brazil in 2016, and will be published in the US by Ryan Doherty of Celadon Books. The book has been translated by Zoë Alexandra Perry.
Set in Rio de Janeiro, it following Dante and his friends, Leitão, Miguel and Hugo.
When they realise they can’t make their rent, they decide to use their culinary skills and host a dinner with a high price tag because of an unusual menu item… human.
Secret Dinner will be published in paperback original, e-book and audiobook 6th August 2026.
