Yoko Inoue

Yoko Inoue is a Japanese journalist and author based in Copenhagen. She spent twenty years at the Yomiuri Shimbun, one of Japan’s leading national newspapers, covering social affairs and serving as a correspondent in Washington, D.C.

Since she moved to Denmark in 2015, her work has centred on a single question: how a country that works some of the shortest hours remains one of the world’s most competitive and happiest societies, and what the rest of us can learn from that. Her book The Third Kind of Time (Diamond, Inc., 2025) became a bestseller in Japan, with rights sold in Taiwan. Berlingske, Denmark’s oldest national newspaper, has profiled her and the book in a major feature.

Yoko writes and speaks widely on time, work, and Nordic life, and advises companies on cross-cultural communication. She speaks fluent English and is open to publicity, interviews, and events.
