I am an agency assistant at Susanna Lea Associates.
Having grown up in East Sussex, I moved to Manchester for University where I graduated with a BA in English Literature and History in 2024. At University, I particularly enjoyed reading contemporary British literature which explored the multiplicity and spectrum of British national identity in books such as NW by Zadie Smith and The Lost Child by Caryl Phillips.
Primarily drawn to literary fiction, memoir, and essay, I enjoy stories that feel fresh and exciting, which explore unconventional perspectives and alternative ways of living. I have really enjoyed Earthings by Sayaka Murato, and other stories which feel bold and questioning, such as Boulder by Eve Babitz.
I am often drawn to stories which are domestic and intimate, and focus on the minutia of the human experience, such as The Horse by Willy Vlautin, All Fours by Miranda July, and Intimacy by Hanif Kureshi.
I also love historical novels: Brotherless Night by V.V. Ganeshananthan with its sweeping historical narrative, but intimate and up-close storytelling; The Safekeep by Yael van der Wouden and 10 Minutes 30 seconds in this Strange World by Elif Shafak are some of my favourites.
I am a big fan of non-fiction too, and again like to read books that blend issues of society, culture, and politics with the lives of individuals—Love in Exile by Shon Faye, The Trading Game by Gary Stevenson, and Take Away by Angela Hui are examples of these.
