Maude Julien works as a psychotherapist specialising in the treatment of victims of controlling relationships, emotional manipulation and trauma, and conducts anthropological research among Indigenous Australians. She lives in Paris.
After studying neuroscience, Elise Boghossian traveled to Vietnam and China to learn how to practice acupuncture. She obtained a doctorate in Chinese medicine and gynecology, then implemented her research in France, where she created the Shennong & Avicenne Association, which promotes the benefits of traditional Chinese medicine, particularly in conflict zones. Having set up two mobile dispensaries to date, most recently the “women’s bus” in Iraq in June 2015, Elise Boghossian plans on establishing more mobile medical units in war zones and areas of extreme poverty. She is married with three children and is based in Paris.
Alice Adams has a BA in Philosophy from the University of Bristol and an MA from the University of Manchester, and since a stint as an analyst in the City has had fiction published in various places including The Times and Dark Mountain. Invincible Summer is her first novel and she’s hard at work on her second. She lives in North London but escapes into the wilderness as often as possible.
Caroline Jones was born in 1974 in Ethiopia and spent the greater part of her childhood in East Africa. After reading French and Spanish at Oxford University, she worked briefly for an English-language newspaper in Uganda before returning to London to make documentaries. She now lives in Brighton.
A Danish native, Malene Rydahl has spent the past 20 years living in Paris. After 18 years of rich and extensive experience in the corporate world, most recently as Director of Corporate Communication for Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, she is now a full-time writer and speaker.
Since 2012, she has been part of the advisory committee for the Positive Economy Forum, an initiative led by Jacques Attali under the sponsorship of the President of the French Republic.
Malene is also a financial partner in a start-up company called 42° Raw, a healthy new vegan fast food concept, which currently has four restaurants in Copenhagen. The company is about to expand further, with future restaurants set to open around Europe.
In 2012, the French news magazine L’Express named her among their top 24 Women of the year, and in 2014, she was appointed Goodwill ambassador of Copenhagen.
Gregory Samak is a television executive. He lives in Paris with his wife and children, and is currently writing a second novel.
Pierre Haski is the co-founder and editor-in-chief of France’s leading web newsite, Rue89.
He was previously at Agence France-Presse and Libération, reporting from around the world. While posted in China, he met Ma Yan, edited her best-selling Ma Yan’s Diary and establishing The Association for the Children of Ningxia, a fund that pays for the schooling of children in rural China.
Léonard Anthony is the associate director of Susanna Lea Associates and co-founder of Éditions Versilio, a next-generation publisher based in Paris whose innovative approach has drawn plaudits.
He was previously the founder of Exelio, which advised international companies and publishing houses on their on-line communication strategy and book-digitisation strategy, the director of the online art photo agency Photos12, and a board member of Pixelkraft, a web agency based in India. He is the author of two books.
He is often invited to talk on the digital publishing, innovating promotion for writers and publishers, the future of books and the global issues that culture-based industry faces in a new digital world (including at the HEC, le Salon du Livre de Paris, l’Ecole de Paris du management, Université René Descartes.).
Vahram Muratyan is a graphic artist. He is the author of the acclaimed book Paris versus New York and a regular contributor to M, Le Monde’s magazine. He splits his time between Paris and New York.
Joanna Bolouri was born in Portsmouth, but grew up in Glasgow where she currently lives with her daughter. Her initial leap into writing came when she won a BBC comedy writing competition with a script that formed the basis of her first novel, The List. She has since worked on a live sketch show with TV production company Kudos/Brown Eyed Boy. She writes and blogs for various publications including Huffington Post UK, The Scottish Sun, Hecklerspray, The Skinny, and Sabotage Times and has also written for Newsjack on BBC Radio 4E.
