The Wild Atlantic Murders series
Represented by Thérèse Coen
The Silent Killer is the gripping start to a new crime series set against the picturesque mountains and island-studded bays of the rugged west coast of Ireland.
Thirty-three-year-old landscape designer, Ali Brennan, moves to Westport after the devastating breakup with her long-term partner DI Aidan Cahill in order to expand her family’s business.
Unbeknownst to Ali, Aidan has just been transferred to Westport to take over the Drugs & Organised Crime Unit, which is investigating local crime gangs operating in Mayo and Galway. One of Ali’s first design projects is to landscape a garden for Ritchie and Maggie Mulligan, which turns out to be a trap orchestrated by the crime boss, who wants to compromise Aidan. Aidan tries to warn Ali and advises her to go into hiding, which she refuses.
Diabetic John Clifford-Murphy, a retired banker and wealthy landowner, dies of a hypoglycaemic attack on a small, isolated island in the middle of Clew Bay. Despite missing medication, glucose tablets, and his phone, the Gardaí rule his death an accident due to the lack of evidence of a struggle or defensive wounds and the postmortem results.
Judith Clifford-Murphy, an old college friend, begs Ali to help her investigate her husband’s death. As they eliminate suspects, Ali believes someone followed Clifford-Murphy to the island deliberately, scuttled his boat and removed his medication and phone, leaving no trace. Then another member of the Clifford-Murphy family is found dead and Ali’s house is ransacked with the outside covered in a graffiti warning. It is clear that the murderer is closing in on Judith and the crime gang on Ali and Aidan. Ali needs to unmask the killer before he gets to Judith,
and Aidan must crack the gang before they get to Ali.
