I grew up in East Sussex and moved to Manchester for University where I studied English Literature and History. At university, I particularly enjoyed reading contemporary British literature, exploring the multiplicity and spectrum of British national identity, and the intersections of everyday life and politics in books such as NW by Zadie Smith and Milkman by Anna Burns.
I interned with SLA in my second year of university, and am very excited to join the team as an assistant at the London office.
I am primarily drawn to literary fiction, memoir, and essay and love stories that feel fresh and exciting, that are set in the contemporary, or that offer a more unconventional narrative.
I tend to particularly like stories that are culturally and politically influenced by their setting, such as Evenings and Weekends by Oisin McKenna, or Breasts and Eggs by Mieko Kawakami. Some other of my favorite recent fiction reads have been Big Swiss by Jen Beagin, Birnam Wood by Eleanor Catton, and Diary of a Void by Emi Yagi.
In terms of non-fiction, some of my favourites include: Educated by Tara Westover, Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner, Love in Exile by Shon Faye, Just Kids by Patti Smith, The Future We Choose by Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac and Take Away: Stories From a Childhood Behind the Counter by Angela Hui.
